Our Stories Amsterdam Tulip Museum: Van Leen

Amsterdam Tulip Museum: Van Leen

Amsterdam Tulip Museum: Van Leen

In Paris, Dutch painter Willem van Leen (1753-1825) gained fame for his watercolor flowers, admired as “eternal bouquets”, perfect for salons where real blooms faded too fast. This reputation followed him back to the Netherlands, where his watercolors were collected with the same enthusiasm as his more elaborate oil paintings.

We selected his most beautiful watercolour and converted it into an all-over design that we hope everyone will be as enthusiastic about as they were about the original! For the Tulip Museum, we have created all kinds of fun (and functional) items, such as hair accessories, gardening gloves and oven gloves.
