We know the Cobra Movement as a group of (international) painters who, in the post-war period, drew inspiration from the free, expressive child. What is less known, however, is that for a brief period, these avant-garde artists also translated their paintings into commercial clothing fabrics and interior textiles.
Inspired by a 1956 textile design by Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920–2005). Constant, one of the most important Dutch artists of the twentieth century, was one of them. Together with the Cobra Museum, and on the occasion of the Wilde Rokken exhibition featuring his designs, we have created a permanent product line for the museum shop: socks, a silk scarf, a clutch, and a foldable rain poncho!
