Musée de la Toile de Jouy: Robe de chambre

Toile de Jouy refers to a typical classic French fabric that made fabric manufacturer Oberkampf, based in the village of Jouy-en-Josas, world famous in the 18th century. The factory itself burned down completely, leaving hardly any archives behind.
Fortunately, Oberkampf's own dressing gown has stood the test of time, and this motif has now been used to create a bespoke collection of rainwear: a lovely rain cape, a matching rain hat and a saddle cover. All available for purchase in the museum shop of the Musée de la Toile de Jouy.
