Wereldmuseum Amsterdam: Hanuman

In Hindu mythology, Hanuman the monkey warrior is a central figure known for his loyalty, courage and supernatural powers. In the Wajang puppet show, he is a lively character who is always depicted in white (white symbolising purity and spiritual power), wearing jewellery and a richly decorated loincloth that signifies his divine origin and role as a holy warrior serving the forces of good. 

This loincloth of Hanuman from the Wajang puppet collection of the Wereldmuseum is the inspiration for the pattern design of this funky foldable raincoat.
