Dordrechts Museum: Sluijters

Dutch painter Jan Sluijters (1881–1957) was a master of expressive colour. He challenged tradition and brought a new rhythm to modern art. For about 15 years, he immersed himself in nearly every new art movement he encountered in Paris, a wild and experimental phase that would come to define his work. During this time, the power of colour took centre stage in his work.

This energy radiates from “Vaas met pioenrozen” (1912), a painting where light and floral seem to meet. Inspired by this vibrant bouquet, we created a kimono, panty and a foldable bag for the Dordrechts Museum. As bold and romantic as the painting itself, these florals invite you to step into Sluijters’ vivid, expressive world.
