Socks by Bosschaert

This pair of socks is inspired by ‘Bouquet in an Arched Window‘, painted in the early 17th century. We merely brightened the colours to create this funky sock!

This flower still life is one of the many uplifting flower paintings the Dutch painter Ambrosius Bosschaert left us early 17th century, to enjoy eternally. Here, over 30 different flower species have been visualised in a very detailed & joyful manner. One must realize that back then, no painter was able to gather this type of bouquets in real life. Flower (bulbs) were extremely rare & expensive, coming from the far East. And besides, flowers depicted would impossibly blossom in the same season.

Bosschaert knew how to make the money: his artistic eye paid off extremely, as well as his commercial eye, being a very successful merchant of pieces made by others.
