Socks by Matisse - heart (5 pairs)

Socks by Matisse - heart (5 pairs)
Your socks are inspired by the works of Henri Matisse, the French artist known for his vibrant colors, expressive brushwork and innovative compositions. Matisse worked in painting, sculpture and printmaking. But in his later years, when illness left him unable to stand at an easel, he reinvented his practice, he began to “paint with scissors”. He cut bold shapes from painted paper and arranged them into massive compositions, some as large as entire walls.
In 1942, Matisse began to work on Jazz, a book of 20 striking paper cut-out plates that bursts with color and movement, depicting the circus, myths, and fairytales. Despite it’s vibrant form, it carries a sense of loss and dread, reflecting the tragedies of war, personal illness, and his concern for his family, who were involved in the French Resistance during World War II.
