Socks by Knip
These socks are inspired by a 19th century still life painting by Dutch artist Henriëtte Gertruida Knip, not to be confused with her niece and namesake known for cat paintings! Knip is less well known today, but she was no average painter. Even at a young age, her still-lifes in oil and watercolour were immensely popular! Imagine a medley of roses, tulips, ladies’ purses and mysterious black irises – all flamenco in a vase.
She made these enchanting flower and fruit paintings that will make your tase buds tingle and your eyes twinkle. Her success allowed her to support her father and brother, who sadly lost their vision later in life.
