Socks by Ruysch - Poppy (5 pairs)

Socks by Ruysch - Poppy (5 pairs)
Your pair of socks is inspired by one of the many colorful flower still life paintings made by the successful 17th-century painter Rachel Ruysch. With a botanist father’s collection, she had access to paint rare flowers and animals and thus, she revolutionized floral compositions in the 17th and 18th century. Her talent earned her permission from her father to pursue an art education. While not unique, this was certainly unusual in these days.
In her career, Ruysch sold her paintings to wealthy collectors. While only selling a few pieces a year, she made nearly twice as much money as Rembrandt van Rijn did! Ruysch painted until the age of 84, with a collection of poetry published to honour her art, never done before for any Dutch artist. Talk about a legend!
