Socks by Haeckel (Trochilidae, striped)
These socks are inspired by the most cheerful and colourful illustration Ernst Haeckel has left us. As a zoologist he must have been extremely fascinated by the out-of-this- world features of the Trochilidae, better known as hummingbirds. You’ll surround yourself with the smallest birds in the world, the hummingbirds, capable of flying backwards as well as forwards, and even able to hover in mid-air.
Although the illustration suggests a place full of hustle and bustle, don’t be fooled. Due to their rapid wingbeats (up to 80 per second), hummingbirds need to rest for the majority of time to recharge their energy.
